Effects of COVID-19 disinfectants on the environment, nature and ecology

Abstract

COVID -19, otherwise coronavirus infection caused by novelSARS- Cov-2 has affected almost all countries of the world and it has been declared a world pandemic. Coronavirus is spread mainly by contact with infected persons and also through touching contaminated surfaces. However, as at July, 2020 it has affected over 33million individuals globally. This calls for serious concern as it constitutes major public health concern. The need to hurt it spread through several ways including the use of disinfectants to effectively reduce or stop the spread is over whelmingly important.Also, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), alcohol based sanitizers and personal hygiene among others are necessary to save lives. It is of utmost importance to disinfect the PPE and other wares used in the management of COVID -19 before disposal at designated areas so as not to increase its spread in the environment. Advocacy on ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus is high encouraged because prevention is cheaper and better than cure.
